Our story

Doug & Vickey Loghry

A family dream, a second act after Cabela's, and an old gas station on the corner of 9th & Illinois. Here's how Pedalers Corner came to be.

The ride so far

  1. The dream

A neighborhood of mom & pop shops

Vickey grew up in a Denver neighborhood full of mom-and-pop shops. Her dad dreamed of bringing that corner-shop spirit to Sidney.

“This was his baby. I was just his legwork.”

    — Vickey, on her dad
  2. Carrying it on

Doug & Vickey pick up the torch

When her dad couldn't finish his dream, Doug and Vickey decided to carry it on: a place that would serve the town, be a social spot, and give back.

  3. A bigger purpose

    From Cabela's to certified mechanic

An avid rider and sportsman, Doug worked as an electrician at Cabela's and was one of the last to leave its corporate headquarters. He could have retired. Instead he went back to school to become a certified bicycle mechanic.

“I figured there was a bigger purpose for me to open a business like this and give back to the community in some capacity.”

    — Doug
  4. The station

An abandoned gas station gets a second life

At 9th & Illinois they restored an old filling station, the kind of place where the news got shared over a glass-bottle soda, and gave it a fenced courtyard with tables, a fire pit and charging stations.

  5. March 26, 2021

    Open for business

Pedalers Corner opened in the middle of pandemic supply-chain chaos. Bikes were scarce, but Trek came through with parts and accessories, and Sidney finally had its own full-service bike shop.

  6. Today

    Sidney's corner for every ride

New Trek bikes and e-bikes, kids' bikes, used and antique bikes, rentals, restorations and in-house service on every kind of bike. In 2025 the shop was featured in Nebraska Public Media's “What If…” series on Sidney building back better.

What we believe

  • Neighbors first

We know our customers by name and their kids' bikes by size.

  • No spandex required

We skip the cycling-clothes racks on purpose so every rider feels welcome.

  • Fix it right

Treat every bike like it's our own family's, and show you how if you want to learn.

  • Give back

A bike shop is a community place. We're here to help Sidney ride.

The conversation is free, the fire pit's usually warm, and Doug loves a good bike story.
